With the acceptance of the Arts & Culture Master Plan last year, the City of Carlsbad has affirmed its support for the arts as an integral part of daily life and a key component to enhancing the quality of life for all residents. This ten- year plan supports a new vision and is embodied in specific initiatives and programs including the Guest Artist Residency program. The Guest Artist Residency program is designed to celebrate local talent and showcase a notable array of gifted performers, musicians and artists from the region and across the nation.
Missoula Children’s Theatre
A Theatre Intensive for Young Performers
This week-long residency begins with a pre-registered audition day and culminates in two public performances. The Missoula Children’s Theatre tour team will arrive in Carlsbad with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play...except the cast. Participants can pre-register to secure their spot as a cast member for the week. Forty-three students, ages 7 - 14, are cast and well-rehearsed throughout the week, learning lines, songs and choreography to perform in a full length musical. All Missoula Children’s Theatre shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Sleeping Beauty will be coming to Carlsbad!
The Missoula Children's Theatre, the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors.
