New Streaming Services & Digital Comics Now Available

Carlsbad City Library is expanding its free eResources with new video streaming services and digital comics available through RBdigital. Library cardholders can access content 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any personal computer, mobile device or tablet with internet connectivity and through the RBdigital app. The new streaming services are made possible by the Friends of the Carlsbad Library.

At a Glance

  • Acorn TV offers the best in British TV and film, including world-class mysteries, dramas and comedies. The platform provides thousands of hours of commercial-free programming with new shows added weekly. Hailed as “an essential must-have” by The Hollywood Reporter.
  • The Great Courses is now available via streaming video. Enjoy unlimited access to courses taught by top university professors and experts from the Ivy League and other renowned schools and institutions. No commercials or interruptions allow you to learn about hundreds of subjects at your own pace.
  • RB Digital Comics offers access to top digital comics and graphic novels, including Marvel favorites and other major brands, for readers of all ages.
  • The new services are available at www.carlsbadca.gov/eresources under "Streaming" and “Books & Reading” for free with a Carlsbad City Library card.
  • The free, optional RBdigital app allows for watching and reading from a mobile device or tablet.
  • Acorn TV offers a convenient app for many devices, such as Apple TV, Kindle Fire Tablet and Stick, Roku and Smart TVs. To utilize this app, patrons must first create an RBdigital account through the Carlsbad City Library before creating a linked Acorn TV account. Not all devices will work with the Acorn TV app.

Carlsbad City Library also continues to offer eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital magazines and online research databases for free with a valid Carlsbad library card through www.carlsbadca.gov/eresources. For those without a library card, apply online.
