The City of Carlsbad will postpone or cancel public events and programs until further notice to support the County of San Diego’s public health order.
The City of Carlsbad’s historic support of arts and culture as a core value led to the establishment of its Cultural Arts Office in 1986 as part of the city’s investment in the visual and performing arts. We strive to enhance the vitality of the city and the quality of life for all residents by supporting an environment where arts and cultural organizations thrive, and people of all ages enjoy opportunities for expression and lifelong learning.
Enjoy Cultural Arts at home with these new online programs and virtual events:
Local artists Bhavna Mehta and Michelle Montjoy, whose artwork was featured in the recent Edges Frayed exhibit at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery, have each developed a 30-minute virtual workshop, designed for patrons ages 10 years and up of all skill levels. These workshops, encouraging viewers to participate in creating art with fabric and thread, are recorded and can be accessed at the viewer’s convenience. Activities include how to transfer, embroider, and display using thread, handkerchiefs, pillowcases, postcards, fabric, and more.
