COVID-19 Update
Carlsbad City Library is currently offering limited computer, browsing and account servicescurbside service and virtual programs.

Overdue fines will not accrue between March 15, 2020 and March 31, 2021.

Carlsbad City Library provides high-quality services and programs year-round for all ages. Adult Programs 

  • Author talks – Meet local and national authors at the library or virtually.
  • Carlsbad Playreaders – Enjoy play readings featuring San Diego’s top actors on various Monday evenings. Temporarily on hold during the pandemic.
  • Carlsbad Reads Together – A communitywide reading program that celebrated its 15th year in 2019.
  • Concerts – Hear everything from Latin music to world music and more. Concerts are usually held each month at either Carlsbad City Library's Schulman Auditorium, at 1775 Dove Lane, Cole Library or the Library Learning Center. During the pandemic, attend our concerts virtually.
  • Cultural Arts programs – Learn more about signature programs such as Front Row Fridays, Starring Artists and Foreign Film Fridays and virtual programs. 
  • Good Life Lecture Series – Health and wellness experts share tips, tools and insight on how to improve your quality of life. 
  • Grow Your Garden – Swap crops and succulents from your garden with your neighbors and learn new gardening techniques.
  • Films – The Cinema Club is free to all and usually features film screenings the last three Wednesdays of the month at 6 p.m., one Saturday bimonthly at 2 p.m., and the first and last Fridays of each month. Temporarily on hold during the pandemic.
  • Library Got Game – It's game time for grown-ups! Join us for an afternoon or evening of socializing, games and fun. Temporarily on hold during the pandemic.
  • Magee Park Poets – A poetry program sponsored by the library and funded by the Friends of the Library. Poetry readings and poetry writing workshops are held regularly. Temporarily on hold during the pandemic.
  • Schulman Programming Committee – The library encourages the submission of proposals by groups or individuals for programs to be presented in the Schulman Auditorium. 
  • Sewing for a Cause - A class for teens and adults who have little to no sewing experience with a sewing machine. This class has a brief period of instruction and then hands-on practice. Temporarily on hold during the pandemic.
  • Special events – From business workshops to special celebrations, join the library for lively special events. Temporarily on hold during the pandemic.
