City of Carlsbad pools are now open for lap swim, recreation swim, private swimming lessons and water fitness. All activities will be a modified and/or reduced capacity format necessary to uphold guidelines set by the County of San Diego.

 Updates for all aquatics patrons
  • Patrons encouraged to arrive and depart in their swim attire or plan to rinse off/change within their program’s allotted time inside the facility.
  • Restrooms will be available in a limited capacity.  Locker rooms will be closed.  Outdoor showers will be available to rinse off before/after pool use swim (as long as it is within their program’s allotted time to be in the facility).
  • Facial coverings will be required for all guests until they enter the water and upon exit from the water
  • All guests must maintain 6 ft of social distance at all times (in line outside the facility and while inside the facility)
  • Shared equipment bins are unavailable—no shared equipment allowed. All equipment must be brought from home and leave with you upon exit.
  • Chairs and tables have been removed from the facility to limit touch surfaces.
  • Bleachers are open, sanitized after each use, and social distancing signs and banners are present.
  • Starting blocks are on-deck in limited capacity for swim team practice only. Permission must be granted by staff for use. Blocks are sanitized after group use.
  • Spectators allowed on the deck at Alga Norte Aquatic Center in limited capacity (swim lessons, swim practices, swim meets and water polo games). Due to limited deck space and inability to maintain social distancing, spectators are not allowed at Monroe Street Pool (Only swimmers, coaches, and staff permitted.)
  • Drinking fountains: NOT available for use. Please bring already filled, non-glass water bottles
