Even though the governor has declared an end to the drought, certain mandatory water restrictions are always in effect. That's because we live in a desert where being water wise is a way of life.
New long-term water conservation legislation states that water providers must set new water conservation targets by 2022 and will be expected to begin implementing them by 2023 and every year after that.
Turf Replacement Rebate Program
There is still funding available for the Turf Replacement Rebate Program that rewards residents for incorporating water-saving plants, technology, irrigation systems and hardware.
Turf replacement rebates of $3 per square foot are available for residents. The rebates include $2 per square foot from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, with an additional $1 per square foot from the San Diego County Water Authority, for up to 5,000 square feet of lawn converted in front or back yard.
Program funding is limited. Learn how to apply for rebate and more information at bewaterwise.com.
